Terms of Service

First of all, thanks for using Saga!

These Terms of Service ( constitute a contract between Saga and you, and are meant to help you understand your rights and our rights while using our products, so please review them carefully.

To make them easier to read, we have added a TL;DR at the beginning of some paragraphs.

In addition to this terms, you might want to take a look at our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms of Service in the future. Whenever we make a significant change to our policies, we will also announce them with a notice on our Services and via email notification.

1. About Us

When we say “Saga”, “Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us” in this document, we are referring to Saga Labs Ltd., registered in England and Wales with company number 12925504.

Our registered office is in 86-90 Paul Street, London, United Kingdom, EC2A 4NE.

2. Our Service

TL;DR: Usage of the Service is regulated by United Kingdom law. You must be over 13 to use our service. We reserve the right to terminate your account if you violate these Terms.
The "Service" is a collaborative text editing web platform, created and maintained by Saga.

The Service is based in the United Kingdom. If you are resident outside the UK, it is your responsibility to ensure that you comply with all applicable local laws when using the Service.

You must be over 13 to use the Service. If you are over 13 but under 18, please get your parent’s or legal guardian’s consent for you to use the Service.When you use our Services, now or in the future, you are agreeing to the latest Terms of Service. That’s true for any of our existing and future products and all features that we add to our Services over time. There may be times where we do not exercise or enforce any right or provision of the Terms of Service; in doing so, we are not waiving that right or provision. These terms do contain a limitation of our liability.

If you do not agree with the terms, do not use this service. If you violate any of the terms, we may terminate your account. We understand this is an exacting statement, and we take it seriously to enforce our policies only in extreme cases. We do welcome your feedback at any moment, so don't hesitate to Contact us.

3. Content

TL:DR; Your data is yours. Saga does not own it, but you give us the right to display it on our Service. You don't have the right to abuse of our copyrights or trademarks. You can also not post any content that violates other people's rights, or our Restricted Use policy.
The Service allows you to create documents and organizing them.

We define as "Content" any text, image, audio, video, link, work of authorship of any kind, or any material posted, generated, or made available through the Service.

We define "User Content" any Content provided by an account holder, including you.

You acknowledge that the Service and Content, excluding User Content, are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws of the United Kingdom and foreign countries.

You agree not to remove, alter or obscure any copyright or trademark accompanying the Service or Content. Saga gives you right to download, copy, display and print the Content.

We do not claim any ownership rights in any User Content, nor we restrict any rights that you may have to use and exploit your User Content. You retain all your rights (including copyright) in any User Content you submit, post or display using the Service.

By submitting any User Content to the Service, you grant us the right to display it and make it available through the Service, to you and to other users, depending on the levels of consent you grant them to access it.

You are solely responsible for all your User Content. We take no responsibility and assume no liability for any User Content you or any other person posts on or through the Service.

However, we reserve the right to remove that User Content from the Service, in case we are convinced that any Content violates the rights of anyone else, or our rules on Restricted Use (see Section 11). We may also consult and cooperate with law enforcement authorities to prosecute users who violate the law. We know this is a harsh statement, and you place a lot of trust in us, but we do our best to deserve that trust by being as transparent as possible in our process.

Your User Content is private by default. You may designate your User Content as "public", by accepting this option inside the Service. You agree that User Content you designate as public will be accessible by and be available to other users of the Service to whom you grant access to such publicly designated User Content. You understand and agree that these users will have the right to view your publicly designated User Content. You give Saga the rights to make this publicly designated User Content available for you.

You can remove your User Content by specifically deleting it. However, some of your User Content may not be completely removed. For additional details, see Termination (Section 15).

If you are a copyright owner, or authorised on behalf of one, and you believe that the copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please submit your claim via email to support@saga.so, with the subject line: "Copyright Infringement" and include in your claim a detailed description of the alleged Infringement as detailed below. You may be held accountable for damages (including costs and legal fees) for misrepresentation or bad-faith claims on the infringement of any Content found on and/or through the Service on your copyright.

4. Accounts

TL;DR: You must register to the service using personally identifiable data. Saga will never sell this data to others or for advertising. You are responsible for your Account usage. You must notify us immediately in case you become aware of a breach or unauthorized use.
You must register to use the Service. As part of the registration process, we ask you to provide certain information about yourself that is true, accurate, and up to date. You may edit this information at any moment through the account management page of the Service.

We will never sell your information to others or use it for advertising. For further details of the information we collect, how we use it, and the basis on which we do so, please see our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account, including but not limited to the restriction of access to your computer and/or account. You agree to accept responsibility for any and all activities or actions that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately upon becoming aware of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account.

5. Spaces

TL;DR: Content is organized in Spaces. You can have multiple Spaces. Saga can auto-link content within one Space, but not across Spaces.
User Content submitted, posted or modified by users in the Service is organized into separated sections we refer to as “Spaces.”

You can work at the same time across multiple Spaces.

Within one Space, Saga can link your User Content in an automatic fashion.

Spaces are separate, so you won't be able to link User Content across Spaces, nor Saga will be able to automatically link User Content for you.

6. Free Use, Subscriptions and Trials

TL;DR: Saga is free to use, for a limited number of Spaces, with a limited number of users per Space. To remove this limitations, you can upgrade to a paid plan. From time to time, we may offer a free trial for our paid plan.
You can use the Service on a free plan basis, which has a limit to the number of Spaces that can be created.

Spaces included in a free plan have a limit to the number of users that can access and edit them. There is no other limitation on functionality for Spaces on the free plan.

You can upgrade any Space to a paid plan, and this will allow an unlimited number of users to access and edit it. The paid plan is only available on a paid-for subscription basis, which can be either monthly or yearly (see Billing, Section 8).

We may from time to time offer a Free Trial of the unlimited plan for a limited period. We may do so at our discretion, and we may, at any time, and without giving notice, modify the terms and conditions that apply to this Free Trial, or cancel it.

7. Referrals and Credit

TL;DR: You may accrue Credits to offset your Subscription fees through our Referral Program. Share your unique Referral Link with a new user, and on signup both you and the new user with receive Credits. Credits are non-transferable, and may be revoked if we believe there is an infringement of these Terms. There is a maximum limit of $200.00.
Your account with the Service can accrue credits in a variety of ways ("Account Credits") for example by referring new users to Saga ("Referral Program"). Account Credits can only be used to offset your Service's Subscription fees.

You can earn Account Credits by inviting new users to Saga.

You will be assigned a personal referral link for referring new users that can be redeemed online inside the Service. When a new user signs up and opens a Service account via your personal Referral Link, both you and the new user will receive Account Credits.

To qualify for Account Credits via the Referral Program, the referred new user must be a new user who has not previously created an account on the Service, and with an valid referral link.

You and your referred new user will receive the Account Credits amount specified on our Pricing page at the time of the referral. The Account Credits will be credited to your respective Service accounts after your referred new user signs up and opens a Service account via your Personal Referral Link. The maximum total of Account Credits you may receive under the Referral Program is $200.00 (“Account Credit Limit”). Once the Account Credit Limit has been reached, you will no longer receive any Account Credits for referrals.

For Account Credits to apply, you must have a paid Subscription or first upgrade to a paid Subscription. If you already have a paid Subscription, you may apply Account Credits to the next payment due in your Billing Cycle. If you are upgrading to a paid Subscription, Account Credits may be applied to your new paid Subscription.
Users may not collect Account Credits available under the Referral Program by:
  • self-referring by using multiple or false names, identities, accounts or email addresses;
  • referring anyone who is an existing Saga user, including an existing user with an account under an alternate email address;
  • using spam or sending unsolicited emails to persons they don’t personally know to collect referrals, or otherwise violating any applicable law, rule, regulation or third party terms of use;
  • posting on message boards, public forums, coupon sites or other online venues;
  • permitting another individual to use the referring user’s account;
  • referring fake people to the Service, impersonating another person, or otherwise providing Saga with false or misleading information;
  • using the personal Referral Link in any manner that is disparaging or that otherwise portrays Saga in a negative light.
  • any other restriction we impose on participants in our Referral Program in our discretion upon prior notice.
By acquiring Account Credits, you agree and acknowledge that we are granting you a limited, revocable license to a digital item, and that the Account Credits are not your personal property. Except as explicitly provided herein, your personal Referral Link and Account Credits are non-transferable. Account Credits cannot be applied to previous purchases, and are not redeemable for cash. All Account Credits are voided immediately upon termination of our Referral Program. We reserve the right to suspend or cancel accounts or remove Account Credits in our sole discretion if we notice any activity that we believe is abusive or fraudulent.

8. Billing, Fees and Fee Changes

TL;DR: We charge subscription fees on a monthly or yearly basis. You may cancel your Subscription at any time in the dedicated section of our Service, or by emailing us at support@saga.so. We might change prices at any time, but we will notify you in time.
When on a paid Subscription, you will be billed in advance on a recurring and periodic basis ("Billing Cycle").

Billing Cycles are set on a monthly or yearly basis.

A valid payment method, including credit card, is required to process the payment for your Subscription. You shall provide Saga with accurate and complete billing information including full name, address, state, zip code, telephone number, and valid payment method information. By submitting such payment information, you automatically authorize Saga to charge all Subscription fees incurred through your account to any such payment instruments.

Should automatic billing fail to occur for any reason, we may attempt to charge the credit card on file one or more times. Should payment continue to fail beyond one (1) week since the end of the previous Billing Cycle, the Subscription may be terminated.

You may cancel your Subscription either through your online account management page of the Service or by contacting our customer support team at support@saga.so.

We may modify the Subscription fees for the Subscriptions at any time. Any Subscription fee change will become effective at the end of the Billing Cycle current at the time.

We will give you a reasonable prior notice of any change in Subscription fees to give you an opportunity to terminate your Subscription before such change becomes effective.

If you continue to use the Service after the Subscription fee change comes into effect, you will be charged according to the modified Subscription fee amount.

Fees are stated exclusive of any taxes or similar governmental assessments of any nature, including, for example, value-added, sales, use or withholding taxes, assessable by any jurisdiction (collectively, “Taxes”). You will be responsible for paying all Taxes associated with your Subscription, except for those taxes based on our net income. Should any payment for the Service be subject to withholding tax by any government, you will reimburse us for such withholding tax.

9. Refunds

TL;DR: Processed payments are non-refundable and there are no credits for unused Subscription periods. You may continue to use the Subscription until the end of the current Billing Cycle.
When you register for the Service, we will ask you to confirm your acceptance of these Terms and to pay any Charges that apply. However, no contract exists between you and us for the supply of the Service until we send you confirmation to the email address you have given, and (where you have subscribed for a Subscription paid plan), we have received the Charges that apply.

Payment obligations are non-cancelable, and fees paid are non-refundable and there are no credits for partially used Subscription periods.

Certain refund requests for Subscriptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis and granted in sole discretion of Saga.

We believe in a fair refund policy, therefore we will keep your Subscription active until the end of the current Billing Cycle, after which you will be downgraded to a free plan.

10. Communications

TL;DR: By creating an account, you agree to subscribe to transactional emails, as well as newsletters or promotional information, from which you may opt out at any time.
By creating an account on our Service, you agree to subscribe to newsletters or marketing materials and other promotional information we may send.

However, you may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these marketing communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any email we send. Please note that we may still send you transactional or administrative messages related to the Service even after you have opted out of receiving marketing communications.

11. Restricted Use

TL;DR: Don't be a bad user, don't post malicious or illegal content, don't try to disrupt or damage the Service, don't do anything unethical.
You may not:
  • post any User Content through the service which may reasonably be regarded as offensive, unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable (please note that using a misspelling or alternative spelling of a word will not circumvent this requirement), or add links to other websites which may contain any such material;
  • post any Content or other material through the Service that contains a virus or other malicious code;
  • try to duplicate, decompile or reverse engineer the Service;
  • try to damage or disrupt the Service;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to user accounts different from yours;
  • introduce any malware or piece of software for the intent of scraping the Service, or anything that might be malicious or technologically harmful;
  • use the Service for illegal, harassing, unethical, or disruptive purposes;
  • access or use the Service in any way not expressly permitted by these Terms.

12. Intellectual Property

TL;DR: Don't use our trademark or copyright unless you have written consent.
The Service and the content of the Saga website are protected by intellectual property rights including copyright and trade marks. We reserve all our rights in such intellectual property.

The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of England and Wales. Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without the prior written consent of Saga.

Except as expressly permitted by these Terms, you may not copy, disseminate, download or make available to others any content available through the use of the Service or on the Saga website.

You must not adapt, modify, merge, translate, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any part of the Saga website, except to the extent permitted by applicable law.

13. Availability of the Service

TL;DR: Don't use our trademark or copyright unless you have written consent.
While we try to ensure that the Service is normally available 24 hours a day, we cannot be held responsible if for any reason the Service is unavailable at any time or for any period by reason of circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

We reserve the right to suspend access to the Service at any time for operational, regulatory, legal or other reasons.

We may temporarily suspend access to the Service without our giving notice in the case of system failure, maintenance or repair or for reasons beyond our reasonable control.

Although we make all reasonable efforts to ensure that the servers that makes the Service available are bug and virus free, we cannot provide any guarantee in this respect.

You are responsible for obtaining Internet access to the Service from where you are in order to use the Service. We cannot be held responsible for your failure to access the Service from any location or browser. Any access fees incurred in reaching the Service (e.g. mobile access or roaming charges) are your responsibility.

Owing to the nature of the Internet and the fact that your access to the Service involves functionality outside our control, we cannot be held responsible for technical problems that you may experience with the Service, including corruption or loss of data held on your computer or other device, or any damage caused to your computer or other device resulting from your use of the Service.

14. Feedback

TL;DR: We welcome your feedback. We reserve the right to your feedback and contributions's intellectual property, to allow us to include the feedback to improve our Service, and to avoid any potential litigation.
We welcome feedback, comments and suggestions for improvements to the Service (“Feedback”).

You acknowledge and expressly agree that any contribution of Feedback does not and will not give or grant you any right, title or interest in the Service or in any such Feedback.

All Feedback becomes the sole and exclusive property of Saga, and Saga may use and disclose Feedback in any manner and for any purpose whatsoever without further notice or compensation to you and without retention by you of any proprietary or other right or claim.

You hereby assign to Saga any and all right, title and interest (including, but not limited to, any patent, copyright, trade secret, trademark, show-how, know-how, moral rights and any and all other intellectual property right) that you may have in and to any and all Feedback.

15. Links to Third Parties' Websites or Services

TL;DR: We don't take responsibility for content obtained from links to other websites.
The Service (and any Content you access using the Service) may provide links to other websites. Selecting any of these links will direct you to a website that is not related in any way to us.

Saga takes no responsibility for the content contained on any such website, and the link to these other websites does not imply an endorsement or recommendation of the website, its products or services.

We strongly advise you to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any third-party web sites or services that you visit or interact with. We do not accept responsibility for the protection of any data supplied to other websites.

16. Termination

TL;DR: You may terminate your account by telling us to do so. We may also terminate your account if you fail to pay charges, or if we have reason to believe you are in breach of these Terms.
We may give you notice to terminate your use of the Service with immediate effect if:
  • you breach any of these Terms, or
  • we have reason to believe that you are using the Service in an unauthorised, unlawful, illegal or fraudulent manner, or
  • we are prevented from providing the Service by reasons beyond our reasonable control; or
  • you fail to pay any Charges due to us.
If you wish to terminate your use of the Service, you may request us to delete your account at any time from within our account management page or by contacting us at support@saga.so.

Once we receive your request to delete your account, all the Content for which you are the Author will immediately become inaccessible. After 30 days, the Content will be deleted from our servers and can no longer be recovered.

On termination for any reason (unless you have the right to terminate), no refund of any Charges that have already become due and have been paid will be made.

17. Limitations of Liability

We will provide the Services using reasonable care and skill. This does not affect your legal rights as a consumer if we fail to do so. We will not be liable to you for any delay in providing the Service, or any failure to provide the Service, or for loss or corruption of data held on your computer or other device or on our servers, if this is due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (including those mentioned in Sections 14 and 15 above), or to any failure on the part of our service suppliers.

We will not under any circumstances be liable for any unforeseeable losses, or any business losses, including loss of profit, resulting from your use of, or your inability to use, the Service.

Nothing in these Terms affects any legal liability we may have and which we cannot lawfully exclude or restrict, including liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; or (b) our fraud.

18. Saga AI terms

Saga AI is a tool available within Saga that assists with content creation, revision, enhancement, summarization, translation, and voice and video content. If you opt to use Saga AI by selecting "Saga AI" or "Ask AI" within the editor, your input and output will be processed by AI and machine learning models.

Some of these models are developed and hosted by Saga, while others are provided by third-party providers. The third-party models and those developed by Saga do not use user input or output to improve the models.

Currently, Saga uses OpenAI and Anthropic as third-party AI model providers. When using Saga AI to generate content, you must ensure that your use complies with applicable laws and Saga's terms, as well as does not infringe on Saga Labs' or any third party's rights.

Additionally, you must ensure that your use of Saga AI and the generated content complies with the terms of use for OpenAI and Anthropic.
